Revolutionizing Logistics: Uber Freight’s New Platform Upgrades
- Uber Freight has integrated with Uber Direct, combining logistics and same-day delivery capabilities through its Parcel Transportation Management System (PTMS).
- The integration is part of broader updates to Uber Freight’s platform, including modular TMS functionality, AI-powered insights, and flexible procurement software.
Uber Freight has established a strategic partnership with Uber Direct, the on-demand delivery-as-a-service platform. This alliance brings together one of North America’s largest logistical networks and a top same-day delivery courier network. Uber Freight’s Parcel Transportation Management System (PTMS) is key to this relationship since it has been connected with Uber Direct to provide new and speedier delivery options, such as same-day and scheduled deliveries.
Over the last year, Uber Freight has managed over 250 million shipments using PTMS, while Uber Direct has facilitated millions of package deliveries for retailers and merchants. The integration is intended to provide significant benefits to both rising and enterprise shippers by increasing network speed, lowering transportation costs, and boosting service dependability.
“We are confident that this will deliver meaningful value to growing and enterprise shippers by speeding up their network, lowering transportation costs, improving service reliability and enhancing customer experience,” Hany Elkordy, head of last-mile logistics for Uber Freight, said in the release. “It’s the right time to offer this expanded service to shippers leveraging our scale at Uber Freight and integration with Uber Direct and others.”
This connection is part of a larger update to the Uber Freight platform that includes modular Transportation Management System (TMS) capability, sophisticated Insights AI tools, and flexible procurement software. These changes aim to provide Uber Freight customers with improved transparency, control, and intelligence along the supply chain.
Lior Ron, CEO of Uber Freight, emphasised the importance of this development, stating that the platform’s strength lies in its innovative marketplace ecosystem. The connection with Uber Direct is viewed as a significant step in using the platform’s capabilities to develop new solutions for shippers that provide comprehensive end-to-end logistics management.
Uber Freight’s commitment to innovation is also evident in its recently established Design Partner Program, which invites customers to contribute to product development, ensuring that the platform evolves according to industry demands.
As Uber Freight expands its operations, it is committed to delivering the tools and technology required to remain competitive in the fast-paced logistics market, with the Uber Direct integration representing a critical milestone in this path.
