Pragmatic Play Reclaims Coveted Brand Award as Developer of the Year
There’s a plethora of different awards, events, and summits dotted around the iGaming industry’s annual calendar. Of these, one of the most significant international events is the SBC Awards. The event is now in its ninth year of celebrating the very best that online gambling has to offer. This year, the ceremony welcomed industry leaders from around the world to Caves Codorniu in Barcelona.
The former Sky Sports News presenter and model, Kirsty Gallacher, was invited to run the evening and tee up the awards. The Dutch soccer legend, Clarence Seedorf, also joined her on the stage.
Of the many awards, one turned all the heads: the Casino and Slots Developer of the Year Award. It came as no surprise that, after another solid year, Pragmatic Play retained the title.
Pragmatic Play battles back to the top
Compared to competitors like IGT, Microgaming, NetEnt, and Playtech, which have been around for decades, Pragmatic Play is still a relatively young brand. The rapid expansion of the iGaming industry has created a hotbed for creativity and innovation. Pragmatic Play is just one such brand flexing its creative muscle, as last year’s winner and this year’s runner-up, Relax Gaming, can attest.
Powered by the ever-popular and , Pragmatic Play has become a top name in online slot gaming. Boasting a solid live-casino arm, the creative new features and themes explored in slot gaming uphold Pragmatic Play’s impeccable reputation. Last year, Relax Gaming unseated the 2020 and 2023 champions. As a result, Pragmatic Play upped their ante this time around.
Top platforms want ties to the award-winning brand
Winning prizes at significant ceremonies like the SBC Awards makes others in the industry and the more engaged customers take notice. Pragmatic Play is predominantly a platform supplier, so platforms benefit from the awards by drawing from the extensive catalog of games. It’s clear that this approach also bodes well when the sites come under the scrutiny of third-party review platforms.
Just looking at the top five Canadian online casinos, three are powered by Pragmatic Play. Given the awards won by the development team, this does make sense. Trust, reputation, and security are the key metrics when rating the best online casinos, followed by games and software providers. Right now, few can match Pragmatic Play’s reputation and accolades.
As noted, the Big Bass series is Pragmatic’s most popular offering, although they don’t just stick with the hit fishing slots. In November, the gladiatorial games-inspired Chase for Glory and ancient Egyptian Nile Fortune did very well. Add to those fellow newcomers like Tundra’s Fortune, Sugar Supreme Powernudge, Viking Forge, Starlight Princess 1000, Rainbow Reels, and Gravity Bonanza, and it’s clear that the team isn’t a one-trick pony.
It was another big year for Pragmatic Play, further enhancing their reputation as a world-class brand in online gambling. However, they’ll need to continue to innovate in the popular slot space to fend off Relax Gaming in 2024.
