Porsche Design is ramping up enthusiasm as it commemorates the 50th anniversary of the legendary Turbo 911, which has long been regarded as a symbol of speed, style, and innovation. To commemorate this occasion, Porsche is releasing two limited-edition clocks and an exceptional 911 Turbo 50 Years vehicle—a tribute to the legendary original that swept the world by storm in 1974.

The Turbo 911 debuted at the Paris Motor Show in 1974, instantly establishing itself as one of the most innovative vehicles of its time. Fast forward to now, and Porsche is honoring its past with the 911 Turbo 50 Years edition. This unique vehicle, like its predecessor, combines stunning style with unparalleled performance, embodying everything that has made the Turbo 911 a timeless classic.

This anniversary automobile is accompanied by two meticulously crafted watches with the same level of attention to detail and performance. The first, the Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years, is an exclusive item available only to owners of the special-edition automobile. This watch is a true tribute to Porsche’s devotion to excellence, as it was manufactured in the company’s own workshop in Switzerland.

The Chronograph 911 Turbo 50 Years has a lightweight titanium casing, the Porsche Design WERK 01.200 caliber, and a strap made of Porsche car leather. One of its most notable elements is the winding rotor, which was inspired by the wheels of the 911 Turbo 50 Years automobile. This watch is both uncommon and extraordinary, with just 1,974 pieces available, each individually numbered to correlate to a specific car. Priced at $12,553, it is a collector’s piece that combines Porsche tradition with cutting-edge watchmaking.

For those who do not want to buy the special-edition car, Porsche has created the Chronograph 1 – 50 Years 911 Turbo Edition. This clock, limited to 500 pieces, is based on the original Chronograph I, which created history in 1972 as the first all-black watch. The new edition preserves the sporty and elegant design that made the original so famous, with a black-coated, ultra-lightweight titanium case. The $12,000 watch is powered by the Porsche Design caliber WERK 01.240 and has a sevenfold anti-reflective sapphire crystal case back, which ensures durability and clarity.

The Chronograph 1 – 50 Years 911 Turbo Edition honors the original Turbo 911 in more ways than one. The dial features the iconic 1970s Porsche emblem, and the strap is made of beige leather with a black velcro clasp, a reference to the metallic beige paintwork of the first Turbo 911. For those who prefer a different look, an extra titanium bracelet is offered.

These timepieces are more than simply watches; they are a tribute to Porsche’s legacy. Porsche Design, the studio created by F. A. Porsche has always had a strong relationship with the automaker, and these timepieces are a prime example of that collaboration. F. A. Porsche, the creator of both the Porsche 911 and the original Chronograph I, designed the “sports car for the wrist,” which these new models continue to exemplify.

The Chronograph 1 – 50 Years 911 Turbo Edition, in particular, is a masterclass in combining classic design with modern technology. With a diameter of 40.8mm, the watch keeps the simple style of the 1972 edition while including modern features such as a scratch-resistant black titanium carbide coating and a COSC-certified chronometer movement. Another feature that relates the watch to its car counterpart is the rotor, which is designed like the legendary Fuchs wheel from the 1974 Turbo.

This limited-edition watch is currently available in Porsche Design stores and through the company’s online boutique. With only 500 pieces available, each valued at $12,000, this is a unique opportunity for Porsche aficionados and watch collectors to acquire a piece of history.
