Playboy Magazine Goes Interactive with Layar Technology
Iconic adult entertainment magazine to incorporate Layar’s interactive print going forward.
AMSTERDAM, THE NETHERLANDS – February 5th, 2013 – Layar, the world’s leading augmented reality and interactive print provider, today announced that Playboy, one of the most iconic global magazine brands over the last half-century, will incorporate Layar’s interactive print technology going forward.
The announcement marks the addition of another publication to an expanding list of print titles and publishers selecting Layar as their platform of choice for the rapidly growing medium of interactive print. In its latest issue, Playboy Netherlands has enhanced several pages with videos, image carousels, custom links and even Layar’s newly introduced HTML widgets.
“We have a great amount of content but we are limited to the 114 pages of the magazine. With Layar, we virtually have an unlimited amount of possibilities to publish extra content,” said Editor in Chief Patrick Goldsteen. “The cover would normally be static, but since the cover now consists of a video the readers can see their favorite models move, talk and interact with them.”
Playboy Netherlands, with a circulation of over 40,000, is enthusiastically jumping on board with Layar, and will be working with Certified Layar Partner Limebizz to add interactive print content to each of its issues going forward.
“We are more than thrilled to be working together with Playboy to provide an engaging digital reader experience in print,” said Layar CEO Quintin Schevernels. “The continued commitments of such internationally iconic magazine brands are marking the arrival of interactive print as a viable solution for print publishers.”
