Nike’s Complete NTC Motherhood Program is Releasing Globally
- Nike is launching a global maternity training program through NTC, helping invite more pregnant and postpartum people back into sport.
- The comprehensive, 24-workout training program covers strength training, cardio, mobility and yoga throughout every stage of pregnancy.
- The program adds to a broad range of Nike products and digital services in support of pregnant people.
Research shows that pregnancy marks the second-highest rate of dropout from exercise in a woman’s life, largely due to a lack of guidance and support during a period of such intense change. To meet that need, Nike is launching a new Nike Training Club program globally: Nike (Move) Like a Mother.
The centerpiece of the program is a 24-workout prenatal and postpartum exercise plan. These workouts, which feature a mix of strength, cardio, mobility and yoga movements, were designed by qualified trainers (and vetted by an exclusive panel of five pregnancy experts, including a board-certified OB/GYN) and cover three distinct seasons of pregnant life: early pregnancy, later pregnancy, and postpartum. The postpartum program includes a six-week deep core and pelvic floor recovery program — safe to start even in the early days after delivery — designed by a pelvic health physical therapist.
Nike Run Club also now offers guided runs tailored to each trimester. And service-oriented stories on Nike.com, the Nike app, and within the Nike Training Club program cover topics like how to exercise when you’re trying to conceive, how to eat well throughout pregnancy, how to manage exercise if you’re breastfeeding, and more (You can find that library of articles here).
The guidance and training initiative is an extension of Nike’s support of pregnant people through products and services. In September of 2020, the debut of the Nike (M) collection introduced maternity athletic clothing to help people in all stages of pregnancy, including pieces like sports bras, tanks, and leggings; the collection expanded in 2021 and debuts in Asian markets this month.
Through the Nike (M)ove Like a Mother program, the product, and the accompanying Nike.com and Nike App content, Nike’s goal is to meet expecting and new parents where they are, whether they have five minutes or 20 to move. Every minute can help build stamina and strength to support them throughout pregnancy, delivery and parenthood.
