  • Her fashion-forward tennis outfit, inspired by “Lolita” style and designed by Yoon Ahn, was a green and white combo that highlighted her distinct flair on and off the court.

Naomi Osaka made a stunning comeback at the U.S. Open 2024, drawing attention not only for her great play but also for her eye-catching tennis gear. The four-time Grand Slam champion, who recently returned to tennis after giving birth to her daughter Shai, cruised into the second round with a convincing victory against Latvia’s Jelena Ostapenko.

Osaka’s tennis gear, designed in conjunction with Nike and Ambush’s Yoon Ahn, was a great fashion highlight. She stepped into Louis Armstrong Stadium dressed in a beautiful green and white attire. The ensemble consisted of a flowing green skirt with white tulle, a white Nike jacket with a black logo on the shoulder, green wristbands, and a matching green visor. Her ensemble was finished with Beats headphones embellished with fluffy white decorations and green bows.

A huge green bow adorned the back of Osaka’s jacket, adding a dramatic flair. When she started warming up, she took off her green and white tulle skirt, revealing a tiered green skirt linked to her tennis dress, adding a whimsical yet sophisticated touch.

Her sleeveless tennis dress, from the Nike x Ambush line, with subtle ruffles near the sleeves and a white band at the waist for a sleek design. Osaka’s special Nike sneakers were fashioned in complementing green and white and had small green bows on the back, which flawlessly tied the outfit together.

Designer Yoon Ahn shared on Instagram that Osaka’s outfit was inspired by “Lolita” fashion, which she said, “harkens back to the innocence and beauty of childhood.” Ahn added, “We both are from Japan, so we wanted to celebrate and connect to a particular subculture style that Japan gave birth to.”

Since her first Grand Slam victory at the U.S. Open in 2018, Osaka has become a global superstar, known not just for her tennis abilities but also for her influence in design. Her collaborations with labels including Louis Vuitton, Levi’s, Tag Heuer, and Nike have highlighted her distinct style, extending her reach beyond the tennis court.

This U.S. Open is particularly significant for Osaka, as it marks her return to the tournament after giving birth. Reflecting on her journey, she shared with WWD, “I don’t think I really ever stopped training, or trying to train. My body is so used to it, it’s weird not to do it. It’s funny, because after I gave birth, the nurse was telling me that I have to call her to use the bathroom. And I was telling her that I’m pretty sure I can just walk on my own. And then I had to demonstrate that I could walk.”

As Osaka continues her trip at the US Open, she remains focused and serene, telling WWD that despite the outside attention, she is absolutely “at peace.” Osaka will face Karolína Muchová of the Czech Republic in the second round on Thursday, and fans are excited to witness her next match and outfit.
