FUSO Expands Canter and eCanter Line-Up for Modern Construction Needs

FUSO
  • FUSO’s Canter and electric eCanter trucks now come with new crane and aerial lift configurations for added versatility and sustainability in the construction industry.
  • The diesel Canter, meanwhile, will take in renewable HVO fuels beginning in 2025, while all eCanter models gain trailer coupling for maximum flexibility.

Diesel and electric FUSO Canters and eCanters have truly become workhorses of choice for the construction industry throughout Europe. Well-known for their manoeuvrability, bodybuilder-friendly construction, and durable payload capabilities, these light-duty trucks are being further developed to offer concepts capable of even greater flexibility and operation in the year 2025.

Accommodating Modern Construction Requirements

Construction sites appear more demanding than they are diversified. That is why vehicles such as the FUSO Canter and eCanter are meant to address as many applications as possible. The all-electric eCanter is one among Canter’s 85% electric variants. It is a sustainable and practical option for operators looking for lower emissions and still high performance.

What would be an additional configuration for an expanding Fuso electric range? Crane and aerial lift platform bodies are now capable of mounting on certain variants of the eCanter as a result of changes made to the modified battery layout, an additional first-time offering for an eCanter. Because the battery pack has been moved further along the chassis, extra room exists between the cab and battery, providing the space needed to support certain specialised bodywork.

Ready to Work, Displayed at Bauma 2025

Visitors will be treated to a close view of how the Canter can adapt at Bauma 2025 in Munich. At Hall B4, stand 233, and in the outdoor area, at FUSO, the following three special models will be shown:

  • The Next Generation eCanter 7C18e (7.49 tonnes) with Meiller Trigenius three-way tipper body
  • A 6.0-tonne Canter 6S15 diesel engine with a WEHA flatbed and crane
  • Canter 9C18 (8.55-tonne) with Palfinger roll-off tipper

These demonstrate how FUSO trucks can be configured for the actual construction process – from tipping and lifting to transporting materials through compact worksites.

More Options, More Adaptations.

What has changed in the eCanter is not only the bodies – they include, most importantly, at the end of the year, optional trailer couplings for all Next Generation eCanter models to further increase their utility in the job.

The new chassis layouts can be flexibly equipped with appropriate bodies. Among others are:

  • The 4S15e (3,400mm wheelbase) with S-battery is ideal for aerial lift platforms.
  • Suitable for cranes or aerial platforms, the 7C18e (3,400mm and 3,850mm wheelbase).
  • The 9C18e is specially configured for cranes or lift platforms and has a wheelbase of either 3,850mm or 4,450mm.

Thus, new roles for eCanter are now available, challenging customer diesel applications.

Making Environmentally Stronger Choices with HVO Fuel

FUSO is not focused only on electric mobility. With effect from the end of 2025, the option for the conventional Canter diesel will also be offered with refuelling using Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), a renewable fuel that reduces CO₂ emissions from internal combustion engines by a large percentage compared to the regular diesel. This is a practical step for those companies looking to reduce their carbon emissions without going fully electric.

Built to Last, Designed to Perform

Since its introduction in 1963, the FUSO Canter has been able to develop a network of equity throughout the world for its reliability and adaptiveness. Over 4.5 million units have been produced globally, with the present diesel models offered in five weight classes (from 3.5 to 8.55 tonnes), six wheelbase options (from 2,500mm to 4,750mm), and three types of cabs: standard, comfort, and crew. Delivering between 130 and 175 horsepower, the Canter is tailored to just about any task.

The 2023 version eCanter is continuing to carry this legacy forward in sustainable transport. With 53 variants and three battery options, it has launched into 38 global markets, with more coming on board.

FUSO’s electric mobility experience commenced with the launch of the first-generation eCanter back in 2017. This pioneer model piled up millions of kilometres in all-electric operations through the years, allowing FUSO to further refine the core technology for construction applications in today’s times.

Manufactured with an Exactitude

The Canter and eCanter for Europe are produced at FUSO’s Tramagal facility in Portugal, while variants for other worldwide markets are assembled in Kawasaki, Japan. With a proven track record of innovation and a strong service network in over 170 countries, FUSO continues to provide businesses with dependable and forward-thinking commercial vehicles.
