Free Guest Wi-Fi and Parental Controls for Verizon FiOS Quantum Gateway Customers
The Fastest Wi-Fi Available From any Provider, Verizon’s Most Powerful Router Delivers More Control to Customers With Latest Software Update
NEW YORK – Parents and business owners, meet your new best friend. The Verizon FiOS Quantum Gateway now offers guest Wi-Fi, perfect for gatherings or businesses. Enhanced parental controls allow customers to remotely manage and turn off Internet access to Wi-Fi-connected devices like game consoles and smartphones during homework or bedtimes.
Verizon FiOS, the nation’s largest all-fiber-optic network, is seamlessly delivering the updates to customers — less than three months after the FiOS Quantum Gateway’s debut. Customers who already have the FiOS Quantum Gateway will automatically receive the new features.
The updates feature:
Guest Wi-Fi
- Provide Wi-Fi access to visitors through a unique login and password, chosen by the customer, that is separate from the customer’s own home network.
- Create a separate, secure WPA2 encrypted network just for guests, allowing Internet access. This is great for visitors and businesses.
- Simplify connections with a dedicated, single sign-on ID and unique password.
Enhanced Parental Controls for Residential Customers — No More Arguing
- Manage children’s Internet usage on each device.
- Establish parental control rules conveniently from the MyFiOS App.
- Turn Internet access on or off for any device.
- Set time limits on any device on a daily or weekly basis.
Available to residential and small-business FiOS Internet customers, the router’s enhancements capitalize on its advanced technology. The FiOS Quantum Gateway features dual-band concurrent technology that separates high-bandwidth activities like HD video streaming and online gaming from lower-bandwidth data consumption, and can produce a signal that delivers download speeds up to 800 megabits per second wirelessly and an unobstructed Wi-Fi range up to 325 feet.*
Starting today (Jan. 23) and rolling out over the next few days, the new features will be rolled out to residential and small-business customers who already have the FiOS Quantum Gateway, enabling them to enjoy the features on their home — or office — networking device.
“When we launched the FiOS Quantum Gateway two months ago, we said that its market-leading wireless signal and range were just the tip of the iceberg. There are a series of new and helpful capabilities we want our customers to enjoy,” said John Harrobin, chief marketing officer for Verizon’s Consumer and Mass Business unit. “This new release is the first of more enhancements coming up for the Gateway. Best of all, these new features come at no additional cost or effort for our customers. It’s another way we say thank you.”
No Wonder FiOS Internet Customers Consistently Rank It Tops
The FiOS Quantum Gateway delivers a whole-premises network signal that ranks among the most powerful in the market to meet customers’ tech needs. A stronger wireless home and office network gives customers the ability to seamlessly incorporate and power as many Internet-connected devices in the home or office as desired.
Nearly 60 percent of FiOS Internet customers are now enjoying Quantum Internet speeds from 50 to 500 Mbps, three times faster than the national average. The latest updates to the FiOS Quantum Gateway router are another thank you to customers, who at no additional cost last year received SpeedMatch, Verizon’s symmetrical-speeds feature.
FiOS Internet was rated No. 1 in customer satisfaction, value and reliability according to the 2014 American Customer Satisfaction Index, and has been the recipient of PC Magazine’s Readers’ Choice Award for nine years running. Additionally, PC Magazine found that FiOS delivered the fastest connections in the country in 2014, with a consistent download speed of 32.8 Mbps and upload speeds of over 20 Mbps – far faster than the nation’s other Internet service providers.
