Enterprise Asia Announces Winners of Asia Pacific Entrepreneurship Awards 2013 Singapore
15 Singaporean Companies Win Asia Pacific’s Most Prestigious Awards for Entrepreneurs
Fifteen entrepreneurs are named winners this year, including Hotel 81’s founder Choo Chong Ngen and Purple Click’s Leonard Tan, who won the Entrepreneur of the Year and Young Entrepreneur of the Year respectively.
Tan Sri Dr. Fong Chan Onn, chairman of Enterprise Asia commented, “The awards are an important agenda in our goal to promote sustainable and responsible entrepreneurship across Asia and the Pacific. By recognizing and advocating these successful entrepreneurs, we hope to send a message to the general public that entrepreneurship is an important element to ensuring economic sustainability”.
The awards are now presented annually in 12 countries across Asia, and are the largest and most stringent awards of its kind in this region. Each nominee undergoes extensive quantitative research and score-carding, compulsory site audit, and have to demonstrate a consistent and outstanding adoption of responsible practices and people-centric policies, prior to being short-listed for judging by a panel of local and international judges. Deloitte is the official auditors of the awards in Singapore.
“Singapore remains at the top of the region in its entrepreneurial ecosystem. There is no lack of enterprising minds in Singapore, as evidenced by the abundance of businesses both large and small, and the relatively resilient economy that is able to rebound rapidly from each and every challenges thrown its way,” said Dr. Fong.
“This bodes well for Singapore, and Singaporeans are fortunate to have a government that believes in the long-term ripple effect of entrepreneurship”, he added.
“Winning this award is certainly a great achievement. Being recognized by an international organization such Enterprise Asia is a strong testament not only to me as an entrepreneur, but also to my entire team, who are constantly working hard, giving their all to maintaining the brand name and ensuring the best quality for our customers”, a jubilant Choo said of the awards.
“This is an important recognition of our commitment, dedication and hard work to make Amtek a force to be reckoned with. May it motivate the team to forge ahead, continue breaking new thresholds and constantly re-invent and innovate”, says Daniel Yong, chairman and CEO of Amtek Engineering Limited. Amtek is a leading manufacturer of precision engineered components with over 10,000 employees worldwide.
“While it is a wonderful feeling to get this recognition, it also puts a lot more responsibility on our shoulders to continue to contribute to the economy, make a positive difference to the world in our own small way while not forgetting our social responsibilities”, added Nina Alag Suri, founder and CEO of Nastrac Group, boutique executive search and recruitment firm.
