Amazon’s 2015 Pilot Season Brings 13 New Shows

Seven new comedy, drama, and docu-series pilots will be available in the first pilot season, including hour-long shows Cocked, Mad Dogs, Man in the High Castle, and Point of Honor, as well as half-hour shows Down Dog and Salem Rogers, and the half-hour docu-series The New Yorker Presents.
Six new kids’ pilots will also be available, including preschool projects Buddy: Tech Detective, Sara Solves It, and The Stinky & Dirty Show, as well as the animated 6-11 show Niko and the Sword of Light and live-action 6-11 shows Table 58 and Just Add Magic.
This first pilot season comes from a talented creative roster, including Ridley Scott (Blade Runner), Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files), Carlton Cuse (Lost), Randall Wallace (Braveheart), Shawn Ryan (The Shield), Brad Silberling (Jane the Virgin, Lemony Snicket’s…), Mark Waters (Mean Girls), Academy and Emmy Award-winning director Alex Gibney (The Armstrong Lie), Angela Santomero (Blue’s Clues), and Carol Greenwald (Arthur).

Amazon Studios today announced it will debut its first pilot season of 2015 on Thursday, January 15, on Amazon Instant Video in the US, UK, and Germany. Seven drama and comedy first pilot season will premiere, including:
- Cocked – Created by Samuel Baum (Lie to Me) and Sam Shaw (Manhattan), starring Sam Trammell (True Blood) and Jason Lee (My Name is Earl), this dark comedy follows a man forced to return to his family’s historic gun business.
- Mad Dogs – A twisted first pilot season, hour-long dark comedy adapted from the UK series, created by Cris Cole (The Bill) and executive produced by Shawn Ryan (The Shield), it follows a group of forty-something friends whose reunion in Belize turns into a nightmare of lies, deception, and murder.
- The Man in the High Castle – Based on Philip K. Dick’s 1962 Hugo Award-winning novel, this alternate-history drama imagines a world where the Allied Powers lost World War II. Directed by David Semel (Heroes), written by Frank Spotnitz (The X-Files), and executive produced by Ridley Scott.
- Point of Honor – A Civil War-era drama created by Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Randall Wallace (Braveheart), following a Virginia family that sides with the South while freeing all their slaves.
- Down Dog – A half-hour first pilot season comedy about a laid-back yoga instructor whose life is turned upside down after breaking up with his successful girlfriend, starring Josh Casaubon (I Just Want My Pants Back) and Paget Brewster (Criminal Minds).
- Salem Rogers – A half-hour comedy starring Leslie Bibb (About a Boy) as a former supermodel forced to reintegrate into society after a decade in rehab.
- The New Yorker Presents – A unique first pilot season docu-series bringing The New Yorker magazine to life, featuring short films, poetry readings, and interviews with cultural icons. Produced by Oscar-winning documentarian Alex Gibney (Taxi to the Dark Side).
Kids’ Pilots:
- Buddy: Tech Detective – A preschool whodunit featuring an inventive young detective and his friends, created by Jon Burton (The Lego Movie).
- Sara Solves It – An animated musical mystery series where a young girl and her brother use math and music to solve everyday problems, created by Carol Greenwald (Arthur) and Angela Santomero (Blue’s Clues).
- The Stinky & Dirty Show – Based on the I Stink! book series, this animated show follows a garbage truck and backhoe loader on fun-filled adventures.
- Niko and the Sword of Light – An animated fantasy adventure about a young warrior battling darkness, featuring voice work by Tom Kenny (SpongeBob SquarePants).
- Table 58 – A live-action comedy about a group of middle school misfits who unite after being ousted from their respective cliques.
- Just Add Magic – Based on Cindy Callaghan’s book, this live-action show follows three best friends who discover a mysterious cookbook with magical recipes.
