adidas announces one of its biggest multi-sport footwear collections. From long-standing sports such as running, tennis and basketball, to the latest addition of breakdancing, the vibrant footwear collection equips athletes across 41 different disciplines, resulting in a 49-model strong footwear release – more than 20 of which will be worn by athletes competing this summer.
All sports are individually championed but bound by one story – the flicker of a fire that represents the innate passion shared by athletes, who represent the pinnacle of their respective sports on the world stage.
Ben Herath, Vice President of Design, Specialist Sports, adidas said: “adidas’ legacy on the global stage has burned bright for over 96 years – beginning with that first performance shoe crafted by our founder in 1924, we’ve consistently delivered tools for the athlete looking to make their mark on history. Performing on this stage, requires something more than raw talent, trained technique and kit, it requires passion.
After working closely with our athletes, we know that the fire ignited within, can power them to the podium. Through this collection, we’ve bound together that intrinsic desire and unwavering commitment to be the best on the global stage, via a design that represents their passion – a flame that burns bright in each of them.
The flare flashes across each shoe, either onto the upper of each footwear model, or on its sole – meaning when the athlete performs, the fire effect will flicker with every movement. Three stripes are just visible against a black and white color scheme, helping reduce visual distractions caused by the shoe during competition.
Each product in the range is specifically crafted for its intended sport – helping deliver the best for every adidas athlete striving for medals. This includes the adidas Adios Pro 3 for Marathon Running, adidas Barricade for Tennis and a wider series of footwear fit for many sports, featuring the best-in-class performance technologies from the brand.
Also coming to the stage is the never-before-seen Adizero Prime SP 3 Strung – made for 100m with energy return and maximum stiffness. The shoe is a continuation of the Prime SP model, updated with the data-driven Strung upper. Coded thread by thread and achieved with precise use of material, the upper provides a seamless, lightweight cocoon around the foot, providing runners comfort and support.
World championship athlete Noah Lyles said: ‘When people watch me, they’re getting ready for something special to happen out there, on the track – and it’s the passion within me that pushes me to deliver for myself and my country, during the moments that matter most. I’ll be taking it to the next level this summer and I’m absolutely fired up to do it on the biggest stage’
Since its founder delivered a performance shoe, first seen on the world stage in 1928, adidas now delivers one of its biggest collections for different sports, and sponsored federations. This is celebrated within the many sports represented by the adidas 2024 athlete pack and additionally, in the bespoke kits that are crafted for each of the sponsored teams represented on the global stage.
While each adidas sponsored country is complete with a unique design built to the color of its flag, they are also decorated with fire-inspired emblems – a unifying graphic set to symbolise the passion for sport, that binds all its athletes who look to compete at the height of their game.
adidas 2024 athlete pack will be available from select retail stores and www.adidas.com from the 18th April, 2024. The collection will be showcased by top athletes from July, as the ultimate sporting spectacle takes place.
