Access Bank Mozambique Supports Initiatives in the Health Sector
Committed to always working with a focus on the permanent satisfaction of all clients, partners and communities, Access Bank has been investing in various initiatives linked to the health sector in Mozambique.
The Bank has maintained partnerships and proximity to various institutions in the country to contribute to the well-being of Mozambicans.
In 2023, the Bank established an important partnership with the Casa Rosa Association, a non-governmental organization dedicated to the fight against breast cancer in Mozambique. This partnership aims to support the Association in specialized training in the diagnosis and treatment of breast and uterine cancer, involving more than 300 final-year nursing and medical students in the cities of Maputo and Beira.
As in previous years, Access Bank once again promoted a blood collection and donation campaign last year, in partnership with the National Blood Bank of Mozambique. The action took place over two months in the various provinces where Access Bank operates and involved its employees and the public. The initiative is part of the Bank’s social responsibility actions and aims to combat the shortage of blood often found in the country’s health centers and hospitals, helping to save lives and strengthen the health of the communities where it operates.
Access Bank Mozambique strongly believes that the continuous blood donation actions are having the desired effect, raising awareness in society about the importance of saving lives. The blood donation campaign, whose motto is “Donate blood, share life”, has been carried out since 2021 in the provinces where the Bank operates and is in line with its policy of strengthening the health and well-being of the population and citizenship.
Also in 2023, the Bank once again showed solidarity with the Oncology Service at Maputo Central Hospital (HCM), donating sheets to that hospital department.
Since it started operating in Mozambique, Access Bank has promoted various solidarity actions with HCM, meeting the hospital’s various needs. At the beginning of last year, the Bank offered mattresses and a year’s pay-tv, and in 2021 it donated household appliances (fridge, microwave, TV) and a TV kit. Maputo Central Hospital, the country’s largest health facility, registers more than 10 new cases of cancer every month and Access Bank has established itself as a solidarity partner of the hospital.
The Bank has been strengthening its commitment to social projects in areas such as health, education, sport, and sustainability, contributing to a better quality of life in the communities where it operates and to the country’s development.
Since 2022, it has also been running the ‘Employee Volunteering’ program, with the aim of encouraging employees to carry out at least one volunteering action a year, making a positive impact on the communities where it operates. Through this program, a pioneer in the country, employees from different departments of the Bank get involved in various activities to support communities in different areas of interest.
In 2023, employees got together and completed a total of 527 hours of involvement in this program.
A bank made up of people and thinking about people, which likes to make dreams come true, getting ever closer to all Mozambicans.
