2017 Nissan TITAN Crew Cab, Powered by 5.6-liter V8 Engine, Debuts at New York International Auto Show
Nissan previewed the upcoming TITAN Crew Cab half-ton pickup, which arrives at Nissan dealers nationwide this summer, at the 2016 New York International Auto Show. The standard bearer of Nissan’s family of TITAN pickups, the 2017 TITAN Crew Cab is powered by a new 390-horsepower 5.6-liter Endurance® V8 gasoline engine.
“The 2017 TITAN half-ton has the same aggressive style of the TITAN XD, but is about a foot shorter in wheelbase,” said Fred Diaz, division vice president and general manager, North America Trucks and Light Commercial Vehicles, Nissan North America, Inc., revealing the new truck during a press conference at the auto show. “They share the same cabs, but while it offers similar ruggedness and durability, the TITAN half-ton’s chassis is completely different than XD.”
The new TITAN is 228.1 inches long – 14.7 inches less than the larger TITAN XD (242.8 in.). The 2017 TITAN half-ton will initially launch as a Crew Cab model, with Single and King Cab variants planned for later in the model year.
The new TITAN half-ton will be powered by Nissan’s 5.6-liter Endurance® V8 gasoline engine, assembled in Decherd, Tenn., which produces 390 horsepower. This engine, which is also featured in the TITAN XD V8 Gas, will be mated to a 7-speed automatic transmission. A V6 gasoline engine will also be available (details to be announced at a later date).
2016 TITAN XD Crew Cab V8 Gas pricing announced
Announced in New York was the starting price* of the 2016 TITAN XD Crew Cab at $35,290 for the TITAN XD S Crew Cab 4×2 model. The gasoline V8-equipped TITAN XD will initially be available in five Crew Cab trim levels in both 4×4 and 4×2 drive configurations. All Endurance V8 engine models come standard with a new 7-speed automatic transmission with Adaptive Shift Control and Downshift Rev Matching.
“The TITAN XD stakes out a unique position in the full-size truck segment between traditional heavy-duty and light-duty entries. The bold new design combines the capabilities of a heavy-duty hauler with the drivability and affordability of a light-duty pickup,” said Fred Diaz, division vice president and general manager, North America Trucks and Light Commercial Vehicles, Nissan North America, Inc. “Now, with the addition of the powerful Endurance V8 gasoline engine, TITAN XD buyers can experience the ‘Every Duty™’ TITAN XD two ways.”
The new V8-powered TITAN XD also offers a range of popular equipment packages, allowing buyers to fine-tune the exact features they desire for work or family use.
Nissan Trucks at the 2016 New York International Auto Show
Besides the new TITAN and TITAN XD, also on display in the Nissan booth in the truck pavilion of the auto show is the Nissan TITAN Warrior Concept. The Warrior Concept, which was one of the stars of the 2016 North American International Auto Show in January, is an extreme design study showcasing the off-road performance potential of the Cummins® 5.0L V8 Turbo Diesel-powered TITAN XD.
